Fantastic service from start to finish. True professional and man of his word. My case was complex with plenty of twists and turns from my ex partner, a time of pressure and doubt on my part. Michael was always there to reassure me and direct me in the right direction. After nearly 2 years i won my custody case and was granted custody of my 4 children. Thank you, true gentleman.

I first contacted Thompson Family Law at a point in my life when I was truly lost - my then partner had told me she was relocating my two kids, both aged under three, a four hour round trip away. I had contacted other solicitor firms in Glasgow who were either unable to help me or who flat out stated they had a full case load. By happenstance I contacted Thompson Family Law on a Friday afternoon at around 1630, having essentially resigned myself to being at the whim of my ex partner. The lady who answered the phone was extremely empathetic and explained that, as it was Friday it was unlikely I'd hear anything until the Monday morning, which in hindsight would have been too late. I received a phone call from Michael Thompson around an hour and a half later - 6pm on a Friday night. Michael reacted almost instantly to the situation I was in and spent his Saturday preparing a writ for court on Monday morning in order to prevent the relocation, which was granted. Michael done everything, from sourcing birth certificates for court to preparing Legal Aid forms for me to fill out and I will reiterate, he done this on a Saturday - his day off for him and his own family. Michael advised me up front that there would be a fee for having things in court so quickly, at least until Legal Aid could be sourced, but he was up front about this and at no point made me feel like this was his priority. Throughout the dealings with my ex partner and in trying to secure the best outcome for my kids, particularly in the early stages, Michael has literally been at the other end of the phone. This was evidenced, for example, when my ex partner ransacked the family home and essentially stole various items from it belonging to the kids - after I messaged Michael at around 7pm he almost immediately phoned me back and within days had the matter in court where the Sheriff ordered that the kids belongings be returned. I have been represented at Court by Michael's colleagues, Kirsty Carter and Jonny Thompson and have found their conduct and professionalism, particularly Jonny's, to be exemplary. In my dealings with Michael I have found him to be direct and honest, to the point of him perhaps even seeming blunt. He has done this in a way which I suspect my ex partners solicitor hasn't done with her - which I feel has led to her having unrealistic expectations around our kids outcomes and also has led to her making unrealistic demands. With Michael, you're never really in any doubt around where you stand and he has been unafraid to reprimand me for behaviours which he feels are unacceptable. This honesty, while at times hard to swallow, is, in my opinion, vital. I have read some of the negative reviews left by other people and they do not correlate to the experience I have had with Thompson Family Law. Michael's knowledge of the legal system is vast and in undertaking Legal Aid work he is essentially providing a public service for people like me, who could not otherwise afford such a high level of legal representation. People who have left negative reviews, in my opinion, would do well to remember that Michael is a solicitor - not a social worker, not a counsellor and by no means a miracle worker, and perhaps reevaluate their expectations accordingly. When all is said and done, thanks to Michael and his team I am able to tuck my kids into bed at night, read them stories, and most importantly have a meaningful input and be present in their lives, which is no less than they deserve and which is something my ex partner sought to deprive me of. I will be forever indebted to them for not allowing this to happen. If I hadn't called Thompson's I dread to think how my situation may have been different.
