Our toilet cistern has a Torbeck valve. After we flushed the toilet, and the cistern was refilling with water, when it was full it ended with the valve closing with a bang, or several bangs, which could go on for about 2 minutes before it stopped. It was quite an amazing banging and reverberating noise for that period of time. The plumber who installed the valve (a 5 star review plumber) said it was a fault with my pipe work and he would need to change all the pipe work. I believed him for a good while until I accidentally saw an article that the Torbeck valve has experienced, to show over the years, an array of issues. I sought some quotations with mixed responses until I was recommended to use JSPlumbing by a friend in the building trade and that turned out to be the best advice I got. Jake was prompt in responding, described what the issue was, provided a competitive quote and duly fixed the problem. Very professional, friendly and helpful. I have found in Jake a professional, highly competent, decent and honest plumber, therefore highly recommend Jake and he is now in my book as the plumber to contact for myself and recommend to my friends.

Poor planning, communication and customer service. Do not use if youre on a deadline! Jake came a number of weeks ago to look at the job - he stated it would be a simple enough job, provided a reasonable quote and booked in the work on a date to suit me prior to the deadline I needed it by. So far so good. On the day of the work, to my surprise Jake was alone. When he had come the previous occasion to inspect the work, he had another tradesman with him. I pointed out to him that he needed to move the refrigerator, as he knew from the inspection, however it turns out he had booked to come and do the work when the other man was away on holiday. He then said he couldnt complete the job on this day as agreed, without risking causing damage. Jake had failed to plan properly - he had come alone, and also did not inspect what was needed to complete the job when he came to look the first time (on second inspection, he came to realise that one panel needed unscrewing from a wall behind the refrigerator). I rebooked for tomorrow and he has just cancelled again on very short notice. Unacceptable
